Spinal Fracture
What is a Spinal Fracture?
A spinal fracture is a break or dislocation of one or more of the vertebrae, the bones that make up your spinal column. These injuries range from minor compression fractures, often caused by osteoporosis, to severe “burst” fractures from high-impact trauma like a car accident or a serious fall. A spinal fracture is a serious medical condition because the broken bone fragments can injure the spinal cord or nerves, potentially leading to pain, disability, or even paralysis. Prompt and specialized medical care is essential.
When recovering from a spinal fracture, you need a specialist with proven expertise. Dr. Jitendra Kumar Nagar has extensive practical experience in successfully treating the full range of spinal fractures, from simple to highly complex.
Symptoms of a Spinal Fracture
The most immediate and common symptom of a spinal fracture is moderate to severe back pain that is sudden in onset and typically feels worse when you move, stand, or sit. The pain is often concentrated at the level of the break and may feel like a sharp, “stabbing” sensation. You might find some relief when lying down. Depending on the severity and whether the spinal cord or nerves are involved, this pain may also radiate into your arms or legs.
Other critical symptoms to watch for include:
